The Department of Urban Construction of Yunnan Agricultural University was established in 2013. It began to recruit undergraduates majoring in Landscape Architecture in 2013 and undergraduates majoring in Environmental Design in 2016. It has a master's degree authorization in Landscape Architecture. There are some teaching and scientific research platforms, including Yunnan Landscape Architecture Planning and Design Research Center, National Germplasm Resource Bank of Rhododendron, Engineering Technology Research Center for the introduction, development and utilization of characteristic horticultural crops in Kunming City, Joint Training Center of Yunnan Landscape Architecture Design.

The Department of Urban Construction currently has 29 full-time teachers, including 17 with senior professional titles, 2 doctoral supervisors, 14 master supervisors, 2 foreign universities with master's degrees or above, and 6 with overseas study experience. Relying on the provincial-level high-quality course "Landscape Architecture Planning and Design", the Department has established the Virtual Teaching Room of Landscape Architecture of Yunnan Agricultural University, and participated in the construction of Huang Danian Style Teacher Team. It has won 2 special prizes in provincial teaching competitions, 1 second prize, 2 school-level teaching achievement awards, and nearly 20 teaching research and teaching reform projects.

The Department of Urban Construction has established extensive contacts with domestic and foreign universities, scientific research institutions and related enterprises for many years, and has carried out talent training and scientific research cooperation in landscape architecture planning and design, urban green space system planning, landscape architecture history and theory, landscape architecture plant application and rural revitalization, with more than 40 teaching bases.

In the past 5 years, the teachers have presided over 32 vertical scientific research projects, with more than 7 million yuan in funds, and more than 50 horizontal scientific research projects with more than 9 million yuan in funds; they have won more than 50 teaching, scientific research, planning and design awards at the provincial and ministerial level or above the relevant first-level society (association).There are about 410 students in school, and nearly 500 professionals in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design have been delivered both inside and outside the province. Many of them have become the backbone talents in the landscape architecture industry, making important contributions to the Pioneer of Ecological Civilization, "Rural Revitalization, Southwest Ecological Barrier Construction and regional economic development in Yunnan Province.
