The Department of horticulture has two majors of Horticulture, Facility Agricultural Science and Engineering, and three master's majors of Pomology, Olericulture and Agronomy and Seed Industry. At present, there are 24 teachers, including 8 professors, 7 associate professors, 2 senior experimenters, 3 doctoral supervisors, 17 master supervisors, 1 chief and 3 post vegetable Industry and Technological System in Yunnan Province, 1 expert group leader and 10 team members of the Provincial "Green Food Brand", 1 Top Young Talents in Yunnan Province, and 2 Young and Middle-aged Academic and Technical Leaders in Yunnan Province. There are 509 undergraduates, including 424 horticulture majors, 85 facility agricultural science and engineering majors, and more than 60 postgraduate students. More than 4,000 undergraduate students have been trained.

The Department of Horticulture has 7 laboratories including Cultivation Laboratory, Breeding Laboratory, Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory, Vegetable Laboratory, Fruit Tree Laboratory, and Flower Laboratory. There are more than 40 acres of teaching practice bases, 16 greenhouses, and 5 off-campus teaching practice bases, which can meet the experimental courses and graduation research of undergraduates and postgraduates. In the past five years, the Department of horticulture has undertaken more than 50 scientific research projects, including 1 National Key R & D Plan Project, 4 Major Science and Technology Projects in Yunnan Province and 10 National Natural Science Funds, with a total fund of more than 10 million yuan. Published more than 100 scientific research papers, of which more than 30 were included in SCI, edited 8 textbooks and monographs, bred more than 20 new varieties of horticultural crops, obtained more than 10 patents, and received 8 scientific research achievement awards.
