The major of Landscape Architecture in Yunnan Agricultural University began as Landscape Gardening major in 1999. In 2013, Landscape architecture was established independently, with a four-year schooling system and a bachelor's degree in engineering. The training goal of this major is to combine the characteristics of biological and ethnic cultural diversity in Yunnan, build a discipline framework intersecting with many disciplines such as landscape architecture, horticulture, architecture, urban and rural planning and forestry, and cultivate compound talents with distinctive characteristics and all-round development in the field of landscape architecture planning and design, engineering technology and construction management, garden plant application, and resource and heritage protection.

This major has 23 faculty members, including 4 professors and 7 associate professors. The major adheres to the educational concept of "student-centered, output oriented and continuous improvement", closely adheres to the national ecological civilization development strategy, complies with the sustainable development trend under the "double carbon" goal, and promotes the further deepening and expansion of new engineering education. In recent years, undergraduates have achieved good results in international landscape design competitions for many times, and the rate of graduates entering postgraduate studies has been rising year after year. Graduates have shown excellent professional quality and steadfast dedication in work practice, and are well received by social employers.
