The major of environmental design came into being in the environment of rural development and revitalization. It is the only major of art in Yunnan Agricultural University. This major is aimed at the first-line industries such as regional indoor and outdoor environmental design, decoration engineering design or landscape design, and trains high-quality application-oriented professionals who can engage in indoor and outdoor decoration design, residential environment design, public space design, and landscape design.

There are 13 full-time teachers in this major, 38.4% of whom have senior professional titles, 4 doctors and 1 external second-class professor. Teachers participated in 3 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, published 6 SCI papers, and 100% of teachers with senior professional titles taught for students. Combined with the characteristics of agricultural colleges and universities, rationally allocate the ratio of teachers, reorganize the characteristic teaching plan, and focus on the practice of talent training. Students participating in the project have won honors such as CCTV News and Boao Forum, and have representative projects in Kunming and various states and counties. The teaching practice base is growing at an average rate of at least 2 per year, and the capacity of practice practice is constantly expanding.
